Palestinian Wefaq Association

Palestinian Wefaq Association assists orphans, the handicapped, and the poor with various programs including scientific, cultural, educational, health, and agricultural projects. Wefaq applied to UPA for a grant to support Gaza children obtain basic school supplies. Some children lost their parents during Operation Cast Lead, and many have unemployed parents who cannot meet their very basic of needs. As a result, more than 40% of Gaza children are unable to afford basic school supplies due to poverty. UPA worked with Palestinian Wefaq Association to provide students with schoolbags, stationary, and uniforms. Through our joint project, “Support Gaza Schoolchildren to Get Their Right to Education”, we distributed these necessities to 400 elementary and middle school children. The materials were given out in schools, houses, and stores to some of the neediest students in the northern Gaza Strip.
